Stabbing on Upper Richmond Road

UPDATED A man has been arrested after another man was stabbed on Upper Richmond Road this afternoon.

Police, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance responded to reports of a stabbing on Upper Richmond Road.

LAS said it was called at 3.09pm and sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and the Air Ambulance; the first crews arrived within four minutes.

A man in his 30s was treated at the scene and taken to a major trauma centre by road as a priority; his condition is not yet known.

A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.

The Metropolitan Police said the two men were known to each other and that there is no wider threat to the public. Enquiries are ongoing.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the attack took place in the Old Burial Ground. Putney.news has not been able to verify this independently, and it is not addressed in the Met’s statement.

A large crime scene remains in place and Upper Richmond Road is closed.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting CAD 4742/19AUG, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

  1. So why on earth are the barriers still up, meaning that people trying to get to their jobs are having to walk. There were apparently no forensic people working there and even if the intention was to continue today – what good will any evidence be now ?
