Interacting with our community
Putney.news is designed to serve our local community and so we welcome and encourage our readers to interact with us. We have comments turned on for stories as a default. We will also open up our events page for submissions so people can let us – and therefore the community – know about what they are doing and what events they are running.
If you have any tips, stories or information you wish to share, please email us at story@putney.news.
Mission and values
Our mission is to provide residents of Putney with accurate, up-to-date information on what is happening in Putney, within the London Borough of Wandsworth, and anything that is likely to have an immediate or direct impact on them. We will also bring accountability and transparency to organisations based in, or impacting Putney residents, especially public bodies.
Our values are liberal. We believe in equality and individual liberty, supporting private property and individual rights, limited constitutional government, democracy, community, and human rights.
There are two quotes we consider most relevant when it comes to reporting on issues of public interest. They are:
- It is the duty of a newspaper to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable
- News is what someone wants suppressed. Everything else is just advertising
Complaints and corrections
We follow the Editor’s Code of Practice that is used by most UK publications and will apply to become a member of the The Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) and so adhere to their standards and arbitration scheme.
However, we do encourage readers to contact us directly in the first instance if they have concerns. You can email the editor at editor@putney.news. If we have made a mistake, been inaccurate, or printed something misleading we will aim to correct it swiftly and acknowledge that change. If necessary and appropriate, we will apologise. Our goal is to provide valuable and trustworthy information to Putney residents.
