Police have seized cocaine and arrested two people at the Platt Estate in Putney. The investigation is continuing.
Officers executed a warrant under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act this week, recovering what the Met describes as “a significant amount of cocaine” from an address on the estate. Two people were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
PC Damian Catherall, of the Thamesfield safer neighbourhoods team, noted in a community update that “drug dealing is often linked with violent crime and the exploitation of vulnerable people”.
The Platt runs off Lower Richmond Road, a few minutes’ walk west of Putney Bridge.
Thamesfield recorded 73 drug offences in the twelve months to June 2026, the most recent month police have published. That is 4.4 per cent of all crime in the ward, and the eighth largest of fourteen categories. Anti-social behaviour, shoplifting and violent crime each ran past 260.
The direction of travel is down, not up. Drug offences peaked at ten in December and nine in January, then settled at five a month through April, May and June.
The street those figures name most often is Brewhouse Lane, at Putney Wharf, with eight of the ward’s 73 offences. That is roughly 300 metres from the Platt Estate, on the other side of Putney High Street.
Until this bust, the Platt itself has recorded no drug offences in the past year; with twenty other crimes registered there covering anti-social behaviour and public order.
Of the 73 drug offences recorded in Thamesfield over the year, 29 ended with police unable to prosecute a suspect and 24 in a local resolution. Seven are awaiting a court outcome and seven remain under investigation. One offender was given a penalty notice.
