Crash on Putney High Street

UPDATED A motorbike crash on Putney High Street late afternoon Thursday left a woman in critical condition and brought traffic to a standstill across Putney and Putney Bridge.

The elderly woman and motorcycle rider were treated at the scene; she is thought to be in critical condition and was rushed to hospital. The motorcycle and a bus that was passing at the time were roped off by police tape, and the entire cross-hatched area where the High Street turns into Lacy Road was cordoned off, causing major traffic delays in both directions.

A large amount of debris remained on the road while the police recorded the scene. There were no arrests.

The Met said in an updated that the woman was in her 80s and remained “in a life-threatening condition.” The police said they were trying to contact her next of kin.

The London Ambulance Service said of the incident: “We were called at 4.49pm to reports of a road traffic collision on Putney High Street. We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and London’s air ambulance. We treated two patients at the scene and took a woman to a London Major Trauma centre.”

Putney High Street reopened a few hours later.
