Riverside Studios at 50: Sir Lenny Henry in Conversation with Gyles Brandreth

A comedy legend returns to the venue that saw some of his greatest triumphs. Sir Lenny Henry in Conversation with Gyles Brandreth is a special live event taking place at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith, on Tuesday 14 April 2026 at 7pm, as part of the venue’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Broadcaster, author and wit Gyles Brandreth — familiar to audiences from Just a Minute and Celebrity Gogglebox — will interview Sir Lenny about his remarkable journey from groundbreaking stand-up comedian to one of the UK’s most versatile and prolific creative forces. The event will be recorded live as an episode of Gyles Brandreth’s chart-topping podcast Rosebud, giving audiences a front-row seat at a piece of broadcasting history.

The connection between Sir Lenny and Riverside Studios goes back to 1988 — a pivotal year in which he was performing to sold-out crowds at the venue while simultaneously presenting the very first Red Nose Day for Comic Relief, helping to launch one of the UK’s most beloved charitable institutions. He has since gone on to achieve enormous success across stand-up, acting, writing, directing, and advocacy for diversity in the arts.

Audiences will be invited to submit questions for Sir Lenny in advance of the evening, creating an interactive element to this very special occasion.
