Putney Debates
29 November @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Free
St Mary’s Church hosts an afternoon of art, discussion and a dramatised reading drawn from the original transcript of the 1647 Putney Debates, when victorious Parliamentarian soldiers met in the church to argue out democracy, the rule of law and the shape of a free society. The session asks what echoes of that argument still matter in 2026 and invites the audience to join the discussion.
Suitable for: Recommended for ages 18+.
