A new Pilates studio is moving into 18 Lacy Road, the site that has been empty since Kashmir restaurant closed just over a year ago. Sculpt House London plans to open in July, using reformer machines, the spring-loaded equipment found in specialist fitness studios.
The studio is an independent venture. Founder Melissa Masoud spent more than a year looking for the right London space before getting the keys to Lacy Road last week.
Putney.news tracked the site in April as one of eight empty units on or next to Putney High Street with nothing moving.

A year of searching
The eight months before the keys arrived were not straightforward. “Legal battles, delays, setbacks, sleepless nights, stress, self doubt, and moments I genuinely thought this would never happen,” Masoud wrote on Instagram. “But today made every single setback worth it.”

The studio will run instructor-led classes as well as open sessions, where members can book the machines and train on their own schedule. Masoud says she wants it to work for people new to Pilates as much as those with an existing practice.
“Our goal is for Sculpt House to feel welcoming, uplifting and community-focused,” she told Putney.news. “We want them to feel comfortable and supported from the moment they walk through the door.”
The space on Lacy Road is bigger than Masoud originally needed, and she says that opens up possibilities. She has plans to add other wellness services over time, though she is not ready to share the details yet.

Why Putney
On why she chose the area: “We chose Putney because of its fantastic sense of community and because we felt there was a real opportunity to create a beautiful wellness space that serves local residents and contributes positively to the neighbourhood. The response we’ve had from local people so far has been incredibly encouraging.”
