Trinity ward votes for a new councillor on Thursday, deciding whether the Conservatives can run Wandsworth without independent Malcolm Grimston’s backing.
The seat became vacant when Lizzy Dobres resigned in July. Five candidates are standing to replace her.
When and where
Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 27 August. Vote only at the station named on your poll card. You do not have to bring the card, but it helps staff if you do.
Trinity’s four polling stations are:
- Trinity Road Chapel, 205 Trinity Road
- St James Community Centre, 1 Florence Way, Ouseley Road
- St Mark’s United Reformed Church, 53 Rowfant Road
- Holy Trinity Church Upper Tooting, 74 Trinity Road

Bring photo ID
You need photo ID to vote in person. Accepted forms include a UK, Irish, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, EEA or Commonwealth passport, a UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or EEA driving licence (including provisional), a Blue Badge, certain concessionary travel cards, a PASS-marked ID card, a Biometric Immigration Document, a Defence identity card or certain national identity cards. Expired documents are fine if the photo still looks like you.
If you don’t have any of these, it’s too late to get a free Voter Authority Certificate: the deadline was 5pm on 19 August. Postal voters do not need photo ID.
Postal and proxy votes
Postal ballots must arrive back by 10pm on Thursday. If yours is still sitting on the side, you can hand it in at a polling station in the ward between 7am and 10pm on the day, but you’ll need to fill in an extra form there or it won’t count.
The deadline for a standard proxy vote has passed. If something unexpected happens on the day itself that stops you getting to the polling station, you can apply for an emergency proxy up until 5pm on Thursday.
Who’s on the ballot
You get one vote. Mark a cross for one candidate only. In the order they appear on the ballot paper:

- Otto Jacobsson, standing for the Conservatives, printed on the ballot paper as Local Conservatives.

- Josh Stanton, Reform UK.
What the result decides
Wandsworth has 58 council seats. The Conservatives hold 29, Labour 27, independent Malcolm Grimston one, and Trinity’s is vacant. If the Conservatives win Trinity, they reach 30: an outright majority, and they no longer need the confidence-and-supply deal that currently keeps them in office with Grimston’s support. Any other result leaves that arithmetic as it stands.
