COOK West Putney has confirmed its opening date: Friday 13 March, at 383 Upper Richmond Road.
The shop sits in the Dover House Road shops on the western stretch of Upper Richmond Road, away from the town centre cluster, in a part of Putney where food retail is thin. For local residents it offers the option of stocking the freezer without a trip to the High Street.
COOK sells hand-prepared frozen meals made in its own kitchens in Kent and Somerset: think beef bourguignon, Thai green curry, osso bucco, and Moroccan lamb tagine alongside British classics and a strong puddings range. The price point sits between supermarket premium tiers and a takeaway: a meal for one runs roughly £7-10, a meal for two around £12-16, making it meaningfully cheaper than ordering in but noticeably above a Tesco Finest ready meal.
The freezer format is part of the appeal too: stock up and there is always something decent for a night when cooking from scratch is not an option.
COOK has won Great Taste Awards, holds B Corp certification, and is accredited by the Living Wage Foundation. It has been a certified B Corp since 2013. The West Putney shop will be its third in the area, joining Southfields on Replingham Road and East Sheen on Upper Richmond Road West, with a Barnes branch on Barnes High Street.
Alongside the opening announcement, COOK is running a search for a Putney local hero to cut the ribbon. Residents can nominate a community champion: a volunteer, a carer, a kids’ football coach, or anyone who goes above and beyond for the neighbourhood. The winner gets to open the shop, receives £100 of COOK vouchers, and COOK will donate £100 to a charity of their choice. Nominations are open now.
The opening follows a longer wait than originally anticipated: when Putney.news covered the works last October, a December opening looked likely. A new staircase and utilities upgrade were among the structural changes made to the site.
Residents who sign up to the COOK mailing list ahead of opening can get 15% off their first shop.
