Christmas week: major disruption ahead
The bigger concern for Putney commuters is what’s coming over Christmas and New Year. Network Rail is undertaking major works in the Queenstown Road area from Saturday 27 December to Sunday 4 January.
Here’s what that means for Putney station:
Saturday 27 – Sunday 28 December: No trains between Clapham Junction and London Waterloo. Even if services ran through Putney, they couldn’t reach Waterloo.
Monday 29 December – Friday 2 January: Reduced and amended service to Waterloo. Check specific train times before travelling.
Saturday 3 January: Reduced service on the Putney section.
Sunday 4 January: No trains at Putney. Buses replace trains.
What’s the work for?
Network Rail says over 350 engineers will be replacing track switches, upgrading signals, and renewing 950 metres of third rail electrification. The work is described as essential for safe and reliable running of the railway.
