Putney’s riverside has a brand-new look — and it’s worth a detour. Just beside Putney Pier, a vibrant outdoor photography exhibition has popped up, transforming the Thames Path railings into a mini gallery under the open sky.
The display is part of celebrations marking Wandsworth’s year as London Borough of Culture, and has been curated by the Putney satellite group of London Independent Photography — a welcoming community of both amateur and professional photographers.
The exhibition features portraits and scenes captured across the borough, offering a colourful, candid look at local life. From moments of reflection to shots of joy and energy, the images highlight the richness and diversity of Wandsworth’s people and places.

This is more than just a photo display — it’s an invitation to pause, and appreciate, next to the river. Whether you’re a lifelong local or just passing through, the photos speak to shared experiences and everyday beauty.
The group behind the project meets monthly, organises outings, and welcomes anyone with an interest in photography, regardless of experience level. Prints from the collection are available, and the artists involved can be contacted directly — their details are available on one of the same boards showing off their work.
