Act now: Covid booster deadline looms for over-75s in Putney

Eligible south west Londoners have just days left to get protected.

Elderly and immunosuppressed residents in Putney are being urged to book their spring Covid-19 booster before the offer closes on Monday 16 June.

Anyone eligible — including those aged 75 and over, people with weakened immune systems, and care home residents — must book online by the 16th. The final day for spring booster appointments is Tuesday 17 June.

With less than two weeks remaining, thousands of appointments remain available at local vaccination centres and walk-in sites across the region.

“Covid-19 continues to be serious for those most at risk, particularly older people and those with weakened immune systems,” said Dr Nicola Jones, local GP and NHS clinical director for primary care in south west London.

“Previous immunity can wane over time, so it’s important to top up your protection — not just for yourself, but for your family, friends and community.”

Appointments can be booked via the NHS website, the NHS App, or by calling 119. A list of walk-in clinics can be found through the NHS walk-in finder, offering flexibility for those who prefer not to schedule in advance.

The booster is recommended for:

  • People aged 75 or over (including those turning 75 by 17 June 2025)
  • People aged 6 months to 74 years with a weakened immune system due to a health condition or treatment
  • Residents in care homes for older adults

Local residents have spoken out about the importance of getting the jab. Hervin, 72, from Croydon, said: “I have cancer and diabetes. I want to protect myself, and my family.”

Natasha, another resident, added: “I get my son vaccinated — from a very young age he’s had asthma, and getting sick can exacerbate his symptoms.”

Health officials are reminding people that the vaccine remains the best defence against serious illness and hospitalisation from Covid-19, especially for those at higher risk.

Don’t wait — the offer ends soon.
