Is Marco Silva on his way out of Craven Cottage? Once again, Fulham fans find themselves holding their breath as a new wave of reports swirls, claiming the club’s manager has agreed to a shock departure — potentially for a move to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal. With just three games left in the season and European qualification slipping from reach, the timing couldn’t be more unsettling for supporters who have watched Silva transform the club into a respectable Premier League force.
According to FourFourTwo, talkSPORT, and Arriyadiyah, Silva is now said to have “agreed terms” with Al Hilal, Asia’s most decorated football club and a major player in the Saudi Pro League. Backed by the country’s Public Investment Fund and boasting a star-studded squad including former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrović, Al Hilal are preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup this summer and reportedly see Silva as a key part of their plans.
Yet despite this torrent of headlines, no official statement has been issued by Fulham or Silva, and Sky Sports has pushed back on the claims — reporting instead that Silva remains “totally focused” on Fulham’s final fixtures. Even so, talkSPORT confirms that the Portuguese coach has received a non-binding offer and is open to the opportunity, despite having previously rejected a mega £40 million deal from Al-Ahli in 2023.
Or maybe Spurs?
The Saudi links are only one part of the puzzle. Tottenham Hotspur — struggling to find consistent form under Ange Postecoglou — have also been persistently linked with Silva. Some reports even suggest he is on a shortlist alongside Simone Inzaghi and Nuno Espírito Santo. Juventus and Everton have also reportedly shown interest at various points this season.
With his contract running until 2026, Fulham technically don’t have to worry — yet. But it is widely believed Silva is stalling on a new deal, prompting concern that he could walk away this summer or run down his final year. A key part of the anxiety is that Fulham may not be able to offer what he wants: the transfer budget, European competition, or long-term project he feels he’s earned.
Still, a healthy dose of skepticism is warranted. After all, we’ve been here before. In July 2023, it was reported that Silva had rejected a new contract and was about to be replaced by Javier Pereira. That prediction fizzled out completely. The pattern — rumour, alarm, denial — feels familiar.
In a recent interview, Silva gave little away about his future, saying only that his “head is at Fulham” but adding, “We don’t control everything that happens around us.” His focus, he claimed, was on preparing for each match — a cautious but far-from-reassuring response.

Record-breaker
With Silva’s Fulham facing Everton, Brentford, and Manchester City in their final three games, he still has the chance to break the club’s Premier League points record (currently 53). If he does leave, it could be with a piece of history in hand.
As Fulham legend Danny Murphy recently said, “Maybe he’s taken Fulham as far as he can go.” That may be true. But Fulham fans will still hope against hope that the club can hold on to a manager who has brought pride, ambition, and identity back to Craven Cottage.
The harsh truth for mid-table clubs remains: when you uncover a gem — be it a striker like Mitrović or a manager like Silva — someone richer often comes to take it away.
I saw Johnny play for Fulham and his relationship with Tosh Chamberlain was one of amusement. On the field one of exasperation when he passed across the pitch only for Tosh not being in the right place to receive it. Johnny would stand in the middle of the pitch, hands on his hips, shaking his head. Off the pitch they were the best of friend often travelling to home games stop a London bus getting off at Kingwood Road or the next stop!
Now that’s a memory! You’re definitely showing your age there. That must’ve been a treat to watch Johnny and Tosh in action – from the Cottage to Kingwood Road, that’s proper Fulham. Amazing how far we’ve come. It’s stories like this that remind us what really makes this club special. Thank so much
