A 16-year-old boy from Wandsworth is one of two teenagers charged with the murder of 17-year-old Keiron Charles, who was fatally stabbed in broad daylight on a quiet street in Shepherd’s Bush.

The stabbing occurred around 1:10pm on Saturday, April 5, on Erconwald Street, near Du Cane Road and Old Oak Common Lane. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene to find two teenagers with stab wounds. Despite emergency treatment, Keiron — from East Acton — was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Wandsworth boy and a second 16-year-old from Brent have now been charged with murder and possession of both a machete and a knife in a public place. Both will appear in custody at Highbury Corner Youth Court.

A third teenager, also aged 16, initially fled the scene but was arrested in the early hours of Sunday. One of the charged boys was arrested after being treated in hospital for stab wounds.

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, leading the investigation, described the incident as “awful” and urged members of the public who were in the area between 1:00 and 1:20pm to come forward with any information.

“This is an awful incident in which a teenager has lost his life. The thoughts of everyone in the Met remain with Keiron’s family and loved ones as they come to terms with their tragic loss,” he said. “Keiron had his whole life ahead of him and any information might prove vital in achieving justice for him.”

Rupa Huq, MP for Ealing Central and Acton, also paid tribute to Keiron, writing:

“He had his whole life ahead of him. My heart goes out to his family and all who knew him.”

The murder has shocked communities across west and south London, particularly in Wandsworth, where local parents and residents are expressing concern that a local teenager is now facing a murder charge in connection with the killing.

Police are urging anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage to come forward. They are also interested in any relevant social media content that might help the investigation.
