Wandsworth’s Avenue Cookery School has been shortlisted as a regional finalist in the 2025 Muddy Awards – a set of annual accolades that recognise local businesses across categories such as food, retail, wellbeing, and family experiences.

Based on Enterprise Way, just a short walk from Wandsworth Town station, The Avenue Cookery School is nominated in the Family Experience category, alongside the Cutty Sark in Greenwich and the Horniman Museum in Forest Hill. The awards, run by lifestyle website Muddy Stilettos, are decided in part by public vote, with the London winners going forward to a national round later this spring.

Founded in 2004, The Avenue is a family-run cookery school that offers a wide range of classes and workshops for all ages and abilities. It’s known for its relaxed, hands-on teaching style and focus on building confidence in the kitchen. The school runs everything from beginners’ baking and international cuisine classes to corporate team days and kids’ holiday cooking camps. It also supports teenagers undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh Award with skill-based cookery programmes.

Workshops

The business has a purpose-built teaching kitchen space on the Riverside Quarter and has been praised by those looking to gain practical skills in a more sociable setting than many other culinary courses. Classes cover a broad variety of themes, from bottomless brunch cookery and sushi-making to pasta workshops and vegan meals.

While the Muddy Awards are not the first time The Avenue has been recognised – the school has also been shortlisted for other national accolades – being named a regional finalist reflects its strong local following and the role it plays in the community.

Voting is open to the public until 1pm on April 15, with winners of each regional category announced later in the season. Supporters can voice their support for The Avenue Cookery School in the Family Experience category by voting online via the Muddy Stilettos website.
