Renowned architect Mark Talbot, 75, fatally stabbed; son charged with murder

Mark Talbot, a distinguished 75-year-old architect, was found fatally stabbed at his £3.5 million riverside residence on Deodar Road in Putney, southwest London, during the early hours of January 24, 2025. 

Emergency services were alerted at approximately 3:36 a.m. Despite paramedics’ efforts, Mr. Talbot was pronounced dead at the scene. 

His son, 30-year-old Rory Talbot from Wandsworth, was arrested and subsequently charged with his father’s murder. He appeared via video link at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court, confirming his personal details during a brief hearing, and has been remanded in custody pending a subsequent appearance at the Old Bailey. 

Mark Talbot was the director of the architectural firm Stoutheart for over three decades and owned multiple properties. His family expressed gratitude for the community’s support and requested privacy during this difficult time. 

Detective Superintendent Amanda Mawhinney of the Metropolitan Police emphasised that the incident appears to be isolated, posing no wider threat to the public. Authorities are appealing for anyone in the area around 3 a.m. on January 24 who may have observed or heard anything unusual to come forward.
