London Mayor Sadiq Kahn has proposed doubling the size of the current express bus “Superloop” by adding an inner loop that would serve, among others, Roehampton.
The proposal would see Roehampton added as a stop between Richmond and Wimbledon stations, giving the area a much-needed boost in connectivity with the rest of the capital.
The exact route has not been outlined but it’s safe to assume it will established bus lines, running from Wimbledon along Putney Heath to the A3 before going up Roehampton Lane and then Upper Richmond Road to Kingston.
Another proposed route would link Hendon to Ealing Broadway via Brent Cross and Hanger Lane, and another route would connect Ealing Broadway to Kingston. There would also be a new Hounslow to Hammersmith service.

All this is of course subject to approval and funding and it should be noted that the proposal comes in the middle of the Mayoral election campaign and was promoted by Sadiq Kahn on his personal Twitter/X account rather than by Transport for London (TfL).
A Labour Party spokesperson also said they were not able give any more detail on the proposed routes beyond a low-resolution graphic – see above. “The illustrative routes are where we think there could be the demand and where it would link with important town centres and services,” they noted.
Kahn is currently leading the polls for mayor with Conservative candidate Susan Hall trailing a distant second and Liberal Democrat candidate Rob Blackie taking the third spot.
NEW: The success of the Superloop is one of my proudest achievements, connecting Londoners in outer London & getting more people onto public transport.

If I'm re-elected on 2 May, I'll deliver Superloop 2 – doubling the number of express bus routes. https://t.co/FboAXqc26S pic.twitter.com/oqPvFQRCaB
