The Madness of George III

Putney Arts Theatre’s main-house autumn production is Alan Bennett’s The Madness of George III, directed by Kim Dyas and Veronika Wilson. Set as the King’s mental health collapses and the political establishment scrambles over who holds power in his absence, the play was written for the National Theatre in 1991 and later adapted for the screen as The Madness of King George.
Peter Singer plays George III, with a cast including Louise Elliker as Queen Charlotte, Mike Lahiffe as Charles James Fox and David Kelly as Lord Chancellor Thurlow.
