The Junior Fours Head

The Junior Fours Head is a time-trial race for school and junior crews in fours and quads, rowed over the Championship Course from Mortlake to Putney with crews started one after another from 12 noon. The finish is on the Putney stretch, and visiting crews can boat from the Putney clubs.
The race was launched in 2025, with the support of schools, clubs and The Fours Head, to give junior rowers the chance to race on the Tideway after years of limited places at the existing heads. Composite crews are not allowed and no rowers aged 15 or under can enter. It runs the day before The Fours Head, which no longer offers junior events.
Suitable for: All ages. Free to watch from the riverside.
Accessibility: Viewing is from the public riverside at Putney Embankment. Expect crowds, crews carrying boats and boat trailers on the embankment on race day.
Booking: No booking or tickets needed for spectators.
