Forgotten But Not Lost – Janet Vaughan

How a great medical pioneer once lost from the collective public memory, was rediscovered.
The Friends of Putney Library are pleased to present a talk by Sheena Evans, independent scholar and writer, on her biography of Janet Vaughan. Having seen Vaughan being interviewed on television in 1984 as the scientist – and campaigner for social justice – among six ‘Women of Our Century’, she determined to place on record the fascinating and often exciting story of this woman, described by one eminent contemporary as ‘unquestionably one of the great figures of medicine of this century’.
