A Chorus Line (Matinee)

Putney Arts Theatre opens its autumn season with A Chorus Line, the Broadway musical built around a single unforgiving audition for a handful of places in a new show’s chorus line. The show follows seventeen dancers as they lay out their careers, insecurities and reasons for wanting the job, from the nervous opener “I Hope I Get It” to the closing ensemble number “One”.

First staged on Broadway in 1975, the musical is built almost entirely from real audition stories collected from working dancers, and remains one of the most performed shows in community theatre for its mix of comedy, heartbreak and big chorus numbers.
