Calvin Bassey has been named Fulham’s 2024/25 Player of the Season, capping a remarkable year in which the Nigerian centre-back helped power the club to a record Premier League points tally.
Bassey earned 39.6% of the fan vote, comfortably ahead of his closest challengers — compatriot Alex Iwobi (21.5%) and left-back Antonee Robinson (19.9%). Goalkeeper Bernd Leno (10.9%) and midfielder Saša Lukić (8.1%) completed the top five.
It marks a step up for the 24-year-old defender, who finished second in the voting during his debut campaign last year. This time, he was a near ever-present force in Marco Silva’s back line, missing just three league matches and proving integral to Fulham’s defensive resilience and build-up play.
His pace, power, and composure on the ball were repeatedly praised by fans and pundits alike — but it wasn’t just his defensive contributions that stood out. Bassey chipped in with two crucial goals, including a thunderous winner against high-flying Nottingham Forest and a composed finish at Old Trafford to open the scoring in Fulham’s famous Emirates FA Cup victory over Manchester United.
Speaking after the award was announced, Bassey said:
