An Evening with Philip Hoare

Waterstones Putney hosts a very special author evening with Philip Hoare, one of Britain’s most distinctive and celebrated literary writers, as he discusses his captivating new work William Blake and the Sea Monsters of Love.
Philip Hoare is the author of numerous acclaimed books, including Leviathan or, The Whale, which won the Samuel Johnson Prize for non-fiction, and The Sea Inside. His writing weaves together biography, natural history, and personal meditation in a style entirely his own. In this new book, Hoare turns his attention to the visionary poet and artist William Blake, exploring Blake’s radical imagination through the lens of the sea creatures, monsters, and mythological beings that populate his work.
This promises to be a fascinating and inspiring evening for anyone interested in Romantic literature, natural history, the art and poetry of William Blake, or simply great literary non-fiction. Tickets are available from the booksellers in store – ask a member of staff for details.
