A 21-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after being struck by a car on Wandsworth Bridge Road on Monday evening.
The collision happened at 19:32hrs near the junction with Pier Terrace. The man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service and remains there with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car, a 36-year-old man, and a passenger, a 30-year-old woman, were both arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Both remain in police custody.
The vehicle involved was a Jaecoo Pure 5.
Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now leading the investigation.
Detective Sergeant Davina Nash said: “This is a serious collision where the victim suffered life-threatening injuries. My thoughts remain with him and his loved ones. I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage that could help our enquiries, to get in touch with us.”
The collision comes less than a year after a pedestrian was killed on Upper Richmond Road in a rush hour incident.
