A Year 5 pupil from Brandlehow Primary School is celebrating after her Christmas card design was chosen to illuminate Battersea Power Station’s iconic chimneys as part of Apple’s festive display.

Phoebe’s design was selected from hundreds of entries submitted by schoolchildren across Wandsworth. Her artwork now towers over the riverside development throughout the festive season, visible from the surrounding area and Thames walkways.

The young artist adapted her original Christmas card to fit Apple’s tree template. Her tree is green and full of festive cheer, featuring holly, red berries, snowflakes and a red-nosed reindeer peeking out through its branches.

The Apple Christmas Trees installation transforms Battersea Power Station’s four chimneys into festive displays throughout December. Phoebe’s design is one of several winning entries illuminating the 50-metre-high structures.

Wandsworth Council partnered with Apple and Battersea Power Station to run the schools competition, inviting children to design Christmas cards that could be adapted for the chimney displays.

Battersea Power Station is running various Christmas activities including a market with artisan stalls, carol performances, and seasonal food across its restaurants and cafes.

The site has shopping across multiple levels – major retailers and independent shops – plus the restored Turbine Hall and riverside terraces. There’s a lift to the top of the chimneys (the Glass Lift Experience) with views across London, though booking ahead is recommended during December.

The venue is accessible via Battersea Power Station station on the Northern Line, or by bus, riverboat, or car with on-site parking. Opening hours are extended during the festive period.

Brandlehow Primary School, located off Brandlehow Road in Putney, is currently fundraising for roof repairs.

The Apple Christmas Trees display runs throughout December until early January.
