Prolific parcel thief banned from Borough for a decade

Brazen package pilferer faces strict Criminal Behaviour Order after arrest

A prolific parcel thief and shoplifter has been banned from entering the entire borough of Wandsworth for the next decade.

Alan Sach, 55, of Southern Avenue in South Norwood, was issued a 10-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) on April 16th after pleading guilty to multiple theft offences. The thief, who frequently targeted residents of Battersea Park and Nine Elms ward, was arrested for multiple offences by the local Safer Neighbourhood Team last month.

Sach pleaded guilty to three counts of theft of postal packets in Wandsworth and Croydon between February and March. He also admitted to stealing a Freedom Pass on March 25 in Croydon.

At Croydon Magistrates’ Court, Sach was given an 18-week sentence suspended for two years, in addition to the Criminal Behaviour Order that will last for ten years.

The CBO prohibits Sach from entering the borough of Wandsworth, entering specific shops, being in possession of certain retail items and drug paraphernalia, plus other conditions.

Wandsworth Police have urged the public to report any sightings of Sach in Wandsworth by calling 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress or if it is an emergency.

The issue of parcel theft due to the enormous increase in online shopping and delivery is something that is a cause of growing concern across Wandsworth, including Putney.
