Looking to cheer up an otherwise overcast weekend? Look no further because the Wandsworth Artists’ Open House is back with us this weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday, from morning until later afternoon, you can visit local artists in their home, enjoy their artwork, buy any that takes your fancy, and chat to Putney’s creative powerhouses.
From painters to screenprinters, ceramicists and sculptors, photographers and mixed-media magicians there is something and someone for everyone. And we have created a simple online map so you can find where they are and get a sense of their work and who they are before you even enter the door.
The annual event has become something of a tradition – and for good reason. It’s just as much as opportunity to chat to your neighbours while strolling between houses as it is to stock up on local art to brighten and enhance your home.
As you can see, there is no shortage of artists in Putney, some of them established and respected across London and further afield, and this event presents you with the rare opportunity to see them in their most relaxed setting: their homes.
You’d be surprised how many artists’ studios are contained in backyards and basements, and you never think about our neighbourhood in quite the same way again. Plus, of course, if you see something you love, you not only have the chance to meet and support the artist themselves but also put a piece of Putney into your home.
The event runs Saturday 11 October and Sunday 12 October from 11am to 6pm. You can find out more at ArtistsOpenHouse.co.uk as well as download PDFs of different maps for different areas (Putney, Southfields, Wandsworth, Battersea and Tooting). Or use the Putney.news interactive map on your phone or computer. Enjoy!
