Election results for the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators (WPCC) have been announced.
There were six candidates for the five available unpaid positions on the eight-person Board of the organisation that oversees Putney Heath, Putney Lower Common and Wimbledon Common. The other three positions are appointed by different arms of the government.
Those elected to three-year terms were David Brown, Susan Bucknall, Michael Johnston, William Liu and Mauro Mattiuzzo. Bucknall and Johnston were previously elected in 2021, received the highest number of votes, and will now serve their second terms.
Interest in the election was down significantly on last time, with a turnout of just 16 per cent, compared to 20.4 per cent in 2021. The number of candidates was also down from 12 to 6. Anyone with three-quarters of a mile of the land that the conservators oversee is eligible to vote, amounting to just under 65,000 people across four London boroughs.
