20 Working Days

Members only

This is where the stories start.

When we put a question to a public authority, the law gives them twenty working days to answer. That is where the name comes from. Very little tends to happen inside those twenty days, or often in the months that follow. Getting the information that make good stories takes time and persistence.

This is where we show it. What we have recently asked, and what has just come back. Which refusals we are challenging, and on what grounds. What we are planning to ask next, and why.

We show you behind the scenes of a working newsroom, and the complex path a story follows from initial query to published page.

Members can see it as it happens: what we are chasing, where each request has got to, and our next steps on the kinds of stories that take a dedicated journalist to find.
