UPLIFT Festival: Young Directors Showcase – Directing & Acting for Young People

Part of the UPLIFT Festival – a new youth theatre and performance festival for young people aged 14-19.

An evening dedicated to exploring what it means to be a director – and to be directed – across both stage and screen. The event includes engaging workshops offering young creatives the chance to develop practical skills and gain insight into the collaborative creative process.

Workshop Schedule:

• 5:30pm – 6:30pm: Acting for Screen – Learn techniques for camera work and explore the differences between stage and screen performance
• 6:30pm – 7:30pm: Theatre Directing with Professional Director – Discover how to shape and guide performances, work with actors, and realise your creative vision

Young Directors Showcase:

7:45pm onwards: The evening culminates in a performance of The Effect directed by the Young Directors themselves. This showcase demonstrates the skills learned and celebrates emerging directorial talent.

Following the performance, join a Q&A panel discussion featuring the show’s director, cast, and a professional industry guest to discuss the creative process and gain insights into theatre-making.
