A fascinating stroll through Putney’s history, from Romans to Rowing and lots in between. Lots of dates available.
A 90 minute walking tour of Putney, with an enthusiastic young local guide who will help you re-imagine some of Putney’s memorable moments in history.
Lots of dates available, select “more options” under Date and time to see the available walks for next few months.
Yes absolutely, they are free and do not need a ticket. While they may be a little young for some of the history (it’s all PG and non-scary) our guide will aim to try and engage them.
Yes that’s fine, dogs on leads are welcome. The walk is entirely outdoors, there is only one area that they cannot enter, but it won’t detract from the tour.
We always aim to run the tour and as it is entirely outdoors, you should dress appropriately. If it is safe to run the tour we will aim to do so.
The tour lasts 90 minutes and the distance walked is about 1.5 miles, approx 2km.
The start point is on the pavement outside Putney mainline station on Putney High Street. Your guide will have a “Putney History Tours” T-shirt and will be there at the appropriate time. The tour will end 300m lower down the High Street and the guide will point out the way back to the station.
Please aim to arrive on time as the walking tour will move off shortly after the start time as the tour can’t be delayed. There are plenty of places to eat or grab a coffee on the High Street if you are early.
