Meditation Wednesday

5 November @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free

Join Putney Library every Wednesday evening from 6-7pm for a peaceful meditation session focused on relaxation, mindfulness, and mental wellbeing. This free weekly practice offers a valuable hour of calm in the midst of busy London life, suitable for complete beginners and experienced meditators alike.

Meditation has been scientifically proven to reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and concentration, enhance emotional regulation, promote better sleep, lower blood pressure, and increase overall sense of wellbeing. Regular practice, even just an hour a week, can make meaningful differences to mental and physical health.

Led by an experienced meditation facilitator, sessions typically include guided meditation practices, breathing exercises, mindfulness techniques, brief teachings on meditation principles, and time for silent practice and reflection. Various meditation styles may be explored, helping participants discover what works best for them.

The library provides a quiet, comfortable space conducive to meditation practice. Participants sit on chairs (no need for floor sitting unless preferred), and the atmosphere is welcoming and non-judgmental. Those new to meditation receive gentle guidance on posture, breathing, and managing distractions.

No special clothing or equipment needed – just come as you are with an open mind. The Wednesday evening timing makes this perfect for unwinding after work or starting your evening feeling centered and calm.

No registration required – simply drop in. For more information about meditation sessions and other wellbeing activities at Putney Library, contact 020 8780 3085 or email Putney.Library@GLL.org.
