Only one practitioner remains at Therapy Rooms Putney, the Upper Richmond Road premises where a council officer discovered unlicensed laser and microblading treatments in November and raised concerns about “misleading or forged documentation.”
Since January, the two therapists who were visible from the street have left the premises, leaving Kathryn’s Reiki Revival as the sole tenant. She confirmed to Putney.news that she is currently the only person working there and attends when she has appointments, but otherwise the premises at 130–132 Upper Richmond Road sits empty.
Hearing postponed, then marked “provisional”
The Licensing Sub-Committee was due to consider objections to both Therapy Rooms Putney and The Pilates Room, a connected business at 226 Upper Richmond Road, on 14 January.
That hearing was postponed after the director of both businesses, Deborah Henley, told the council she could not attend because she was abroad dealing with a family medical emergency.
The hearing is now listed for 5 March, but the council’s committee calendar marks it as “provisional,” raising questions about whether it will go ahead at all.
Wandsworth Council has not responded to questions from Putney.news about whether the premises can continue to operate without a licence pending the hearing. We first wrote to the licensing team on 17 January and followed up in February. No reply has been received.
What the council found
The original investigation, reported by Putney.news on 6 January, revealed that a council licensing officer discovered unlicensed special treatments being provided at the premises during an inspection on 20 November 2025.
The officer’s objection raised “serious concerns regarding fitness and propriety” and referenced “misleading or forged documentation” found during the inspection. He also objected to the renewal of The Pilates Room’s licence, stating that its owner Mario Perez “is not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence.”
During the application process, the officer contacted therapists working at the premises directly via WhatsApp. Those therapists subsequently left and have not renewed their contracts.
Corporate restructuring
Companies House records show Ms Henley was appointed as director of Therapy Rooms Putney Ltd on 6 January 2026, just eight days before the hearing that was subsequently postponed. She was also appointed director of The Pilates Room Ltd on 2 January, having previously resigned from that company in July 2019.
The company that applied for the special treatment licence, Therapy Rooms SW15 Limited, is registered as dormant. Its most recent accounts, approved on 5 February 2026, show total assets of £1,000 in cash.
A separate company, Therapy Rooms Putney Ltd, is registered to a residential address in West Putney. Ms Henley holds seven active company appointments in total, four of which relate to these two Upper Richmond Road premises.
“People really benefit from it”
Reiki does not involve lasers or skin penetration and so does not require a special treatment licence. It is an energy healing practice where clients lie in a calm room, sometimes with a blanket, while the practitioner works to balance their energy.
Kathryn told us that her practice is entirely above board. She has her own insurance, a steady stream of clients, and pointed to testimonials on her website. She said reiki particularly helps people on cancer medication, aiding their recovery.
“It’s a spiritual cleansing,” she said. “People really benefit from it.”
What happens next
If Therapy Rooms Putney has effectively ceased offering licensable treatments, the 5 March hearing may become moot, but the council officer’s findings about unlicensed treatments and his concerns about documentation remain on the public record.
The Pilates Room at 226 Upper Richmond Road, which has operated for 18 years and also faces licensing objections, is a separate matter. The Pilates Room’s written response to the council claimed there was “no operational link between the two businesses,” though public records show it was co-founded by Henley and Perez.
