UPDATED A pedestrian was taken to hospital this afternoon after being hit by a bus on Putney High Street, prompting an emergency response and full road closure in both directions.
The incident occurred shortly after 2:30pm near the TK Maxx store. The person was struck while standing at a bus stop and sustained injuries serious enough to require hospital treatment. Their condition remains unknown at this time.
The Met said in a later statement:
“Officers responded to a collision involving a pedestrian and a bus in Putney High Street, Putney at 14:30hrs on Wednesday, 25 June. The pedestrian was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. His condition is yet to be confirmed.”

Putney High Street was closed between Lacy Road and Montserrat Road for more than two hours, with significant disruption to local traffic. Numerous buses including the 14, 39, 85, 93, 424 and 430 were diverted.
Police officers were seen visiting nearby shops, including Boots, to collect CCTV footage as part of their investigation. Witnesses reported confusion as traffic was redirected down side streets, with some vehicles travelling the wrong way down one-way roads in an attempt to avoid the gridlock.
A statement by the London Ambulance Service noted:
“We were called at 2.28pm today to reports of a road traffic collision on Putney High Street, SW15. We sent ambulance crews and a paramedic in a fast response car to the scene. We treated a man for an arm injury and took him to a major trauma centre.”

The road reopened shortly before 6pm, though traffic delays continue this evening.
Police have not yet released an official statement. Anyone with information or relevant footage is urged to contact the Metropolitan Police.
