Located on the Thames Embankment in Putney, Vesta Rowing Club is one of the UK’s largest and most vibrant rowing clubs, with a proud tradition dating back over a century. The club is renowned for its inclusive “cradle-to-grave” ethos – welcoming complete novices, competitive seniors, and lifelong masters alike – and is home to more than 400 members.
As a venue, Vesta offers a unique blend of sporting heritage and lively social life. The clubhouse includes the much-loved Vesta Bar, a warm and welcoming members’ space open most evenings and weekends, serving draught beers and hosting everything from post-race celebrations to annual dinners and summer parties. The club also hires out its bar and event space for private functions by members, with a buzzing atmosphere during highlights such as the Oxford–Cambridge Boat Race.
With its riverside location, racing events like the Scullers’ Head and International Veterans’ Head, and a strong tradition of volunteering and community spirit, Vesta Rowing Club is not just a training base but also a social hub – a true Putney landmark where rowing, friendship, and celebration go hand in hand.
