The Bricklayers Arms was originally founded in 1826 as The Waterman’s Arms, serving Putney’s shipbuilders. Nearly 200 years later, it remains a beloved local pub—now a thriving community hub for cask and craft beer lovers.
Saved from closure in 2020 by landlord Chris Walsh, who grew up in North London pubs, The Brick was lovingly restored during the pandemic. With support from locals and a small crowdfund, it reopened in 2021 and has gone from strength to strength.
Independently owned and family-run, The Bricklayers Arms champions great beer, warm service, and community spirit—everything a proper pub should be.
