DESCRIPTION:The first of four hustings for the London Assembly candidate for Merton and Wandsworth will be held at Wimbledon Library and hosted by the Friends of the Earth. \nYou are invited to come and hear the candidates for Merton & Wandsworth share their positions on key environmental issues pertinent our local area. \nYou will also have the chance to put questions to the candidates and hear the concerns of other voters in your community. All welcome to attend. \nThis is a free event organised by Merton Friends of the Earth\, Sustainable Merton\, and Merton Cycling Campaign \n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nWhy attend? \n\nAsk questions to candidates\nVoice your concerns\nHear candidates debate their environmental policies\n\nWho’s coming? \n\nGreen Party: Pippa Maslin\nLabour: Leonie Cooper\nLiberal Democrats: Sue Wixley\nConservative Party: Ellie Cox\n\nWhat is the London Assembly? \nThe London Assembly (LA) is a democratically elected cross-party group whose function is to hold the Mayor to account. They are there to scrutinise and question the Mayor\, so that they stand firm on their commitments\, and are accountable for the decisions they make. \nThe London Assembly is made up of a list of 11 London-wide members (to ensure proportional representation and that a balance of voices is heard) and 14 constituency members. The Merton & Wandsworth constituency member candidates for main parties are: Cllr Eleanor Cox (Conservatives)\, Pippa Maslin (Green)\, Leonie Cooper (Labour)\, Sue Wixley (Lib Dem).
