SUMMARY:Audition: WAF@PAT
DESCRIPTION:Audition dates:\n\n8th April @ 7.00pm\n9th April @ 7.00pm\n10th April @ 7.00pm\n13th April @ 6.30pm\n\nProduction dates:\n\nFrom Friday 6th June – Sunday 22nd June\, further details below.\n\nAbout the Play:\nWAF@PAT will feature seven plays (six for adult audiences and one for children)\, together with workshops\, new writing\, cabaret\, music and other activities. The plays will be performed over the course of three weekends\, Friday to Sunday: 6\, 7\, 8 June\, 13\, 14\, 15 June and 20\, 21\, 22 June. Each play will have three performances. \n\nAuditions for the plays will be held on four dates: 8\, 9\, 10\, and 13 April. On three of those dates more than one play will audition in a single evening.\nActors may audition on whichever evening they prefer – depending on which play they are most suited to\, and about which they feel most enthusiastic. Brief synopses of the plays and character descriptions are included below.\nActors are encouraged to audition for both plays on a single night when there are suitable roles available.\nActors may audition on more than one occasion if they choose\, although this is not required.\nActors may choose the “anything and everything” and “Are you open to being cast in a show other than the ones you have expressed interest in” options on the audition form. This means they may be cast in a play other than that for which they have auditioned. The WAF@PAT artistic team will be present at all auditions and will seek to ensure that opportunities to participate are maximised for actors\, while all the plays have the strongest possible cast.\nActors should fill in an audition form before the audition date. They will then be provided with the relevant audition pieces\, or will be able to download them from this page of the website shortly. Please make sure you read the audition pieces fully. You are not expected to learn them\, but being familiar with them will be to your advantage.\nAll auditionees will be contacted after their audition\, whether successful or not. There will be lots of other ways to get involved with fringe activities at PAT\, so please indicate on your form if you would like to participate in other ways if you are not case.\n\nCLICK HERE TO ACCESS AN AUDITION FORM: \n  \nWAF@PAT: Play and character summaries\nBlack Mountain by Brad Birch \nDirected by Justin Hopper \nAUDITION DATE: Sunday 13 April at 18.30 \nPERFORMANCE DATES: Friday 6 June 19.45\, Saturday 7 June 16.30\, Sunday 8 June 20.00 \nYou were out here. They set themselves boundaries\, but their half- honourable attempts don’t last long. The situation is further complicated by the appearance of Paul’s former lover\, Helen\, who seems to have a mysterious agenda of her own. You can’t run forever\, especially when you’re being followed. Brad Birch’s tense psychological thriller about infidelity\, betrayal and revenge will leave your heart pounding. \nPAUL (male late 20s to 50s) \nREBECCA (female (late 20s to 50s) \nHELEN (female late 20s to 50s) \nThe audition pieces for Black Mountain: BLACK MOUNTAIN AUDITION.pdf \nFairytaleheart by Philip Ridley \nDirected by Zachary Matcham \nAUDITION DATE: Tuesday 8 April at 19.00 \nPERFORMANCE DATES: Saturday 7 June 18.30\, Sunday 8 June 16.00\, Sunday 15 June 14.00 \nIn our dreams we have already faced this monster. As the seasons change they find a common bond as they tend the plants and come to terms with the challenges of childhood and of ageing. Mike Kenny’s play for children of six and older\, and their parents and grandparents\, is a masterclass in storytelling using rhymes\, rhythms\, and fun. \nJOE\, a young boy \nHARRY\, an old man \n(Both roles could be played by an actor of any age or gender with a particular passion for storytelling and spoken word) \nThe audition pieces for The Gardener: The Gardener audition.pdf \nGlory Dazed by Cat Jones \nDirected by Paula Robinson \nAUDITION DATE: Sunday 13 April at 18.30 \nPERFORMANCE DATES: Friday 13 June 19.45\, Sunday 15 June 18.00\, Sunday 22 June 16.00 \nSome of us don’t need to go to the desert to find out what fear is. \nEx-squaddie Ray – mentally scarred from his time in Afghanistan – returns home to Doncaster to attempt to see his kids and reconcile with his ex-wife\, Carla – mentally scarred from her marriage to Ray. But he has no idea what his next line is\, or even what play he’s in. And why isn’t he wearing his trousers? American absurdist Christopher Durang harnesses every thespian’s most dreaded night terror to deliriously silly comic effect\, as hapless and increasingly desperate protagonist George is swept up in a crazy stampede through theatrical genres from Noel Coward to Shakespeare. \nGEORGE (male\, 20s-40s\, American accent) \nMEG (female\, 20s-40s) a stage manager \nSARAH SIDDONS (female\, 20s-50s) a glamorous actress \nDAME ELLEN TERRY (female\, 20s-50s) another famous actress \nHENRY IRVING (male\, 20s-50s) a grand actor \nThe Actor’s Nightmare audition pieces: THE ACTORS NIGHTMARE AUDITION.pdf \nTaken by Winsome Pinnock \nDirected by Aiste Mizgeryte \nAUDITION DATE: Tuesday 8 April at 18.30 \nPERFORMANCE DATES: Sunday 8 June 18.00\, Saturday 14 June 18.30\, Sunday 15 June 20.00 \nYou’re not real. You’re just another one of them ghosts. \nIn a north London council flat\, Della\, a recovering addict\, barely has time to catch her breath before she is face-to-face with Nola\, the daughter she was forced to give up. But the young woman with the pram sipping tea in her living room may not be all she seems. Nana Nola\, Della’s mother\, has a memory that is starting to play tricks on her\, but she is still sharp enough to sense when something isn’t right. As time bends and the weight of the past presses in\, three generations of women must navigate old wounds\, unspoken truths\, and the aching need for redemption. Winsome Pinnock’s gripping drama is a story of love\, loss\, and the desperate search for a flicker of hope in the shadows of yesterday. \nDELLA (female\, 40s) \nNOLA (female\, 20s) \nNANA NOLA (female\, 60s) \nTaken audition pieces: Taken – Audition Pieces (2).pdf \n** \nThere by Geoff Saunders \nDirected by Geoff Saunders and Richard Seedhouse \nAUDITION DATE: Wednesday 9 April at 19.00 \nPERFORMANCE DATES: Friday 20 June 19.45\, Saturday 21 June 16.30\, Sunday 22 June 20.00 \nFalling in\, falling out\, falling apart. Philip develops a powerful crush on his colleague\, Jon\, and puts their friendship in jeopardy. There starts with one friendship’s birth and finishes with the death of another; in between\, the play explores obsession\, race\, political correctness\, substance abuse\, truth\, lies\, loyalty\, treachery and forgiveness. \nADAM (male\, 30s) earnest\, idealistic\, white British \nLUCAS (male\, 30s) humorous\, watchful\, of Jamaican heritage \nSOPHIE (female\, 30s) smart\, work-driven\, gay\, any race/nationality \nTANYA (female\, 30s) sharp-witted\, edgy\, any race/nationality \nJON (male\, 30s) unassuming\, lacking in self-esteem\, any race/nationality \nPHILIP (male\, 40s) nervous\, unhappy\, gay\, any race/nationality \nKIRSTY (female\, 40s) slightly obsessive\, self-deprecating\, any race/nationality \nKATE (female\, 40s) free spirited\, understanding\, any race/nationality \nThere auditions pieces: THERE audition pieces.pdf \n\nPLEASE NOTE\nWe are committed to improving diversity in our casting\, and unless stated for artistic reasons\, we aim to actively adopt an inclusive casting policy. \nThis is an amateur production. SUMMARY:Blithe Spirit by Noël Coward
DESCRIPTION:This Noël Coward comedy classic tells the story of suave novelist Charles Condomine and his second wife\, Ruth. They invite local medium\, Madam Arcati\, to conduct a séance to inspire him for his next novel. \nThe evening doesn’t go as planned\, and the sceptical Charles is reunited with the ghost of his first wife\, Elvira. \nOnly he can see Elvira and she doesn’t take kindly to Ruth having usurped her. Attempts by Madame Arcati fail to return her to the “other world”\, and Elvira’s spirit transforms the lives of Charles and Ruth forever.

SUMMARY:The Bleeding Tree by Angus Cerini
DESCRIPTION:Age suitability 15+ \nIn a dirt-dry Australian town\, a gunshot shatters the still night. A mother and her daughters have just welcomed home the man of the house — with a crack to the shins and a bullet to the neck. With a body to dispose of and neighbours asking awkward questions\, their story unfolds with raw\, rude\, and brutally funny intensity. \nThe Bleeding Tree is an Australian Gothic murder ballad. It’s the story of three fierce women fighting back. Described as “dangerous\, deep\, and devastatingly beautiful\,” it’s a razor-sharp thriller and a hauntingly tense\, visceral exploration of revenge\, complicity\, and survival. \nWith its dark humour\, poetic beauty\, and searing wit\, it is theatre at its boldest and most unforgettable. \nThe Bleeding Tree was first produced by Griffin Theatre Company\, 7 August 2015 at the SBW Stables Theatre\, Sydney\, Australia

SUMMARY:The Harmony Test
DESCRIPTION:Newlyweds Zoe and Kash are on a mission to have a baby. From sex schedules to dodgy under-the-counter remedies\, increasingly desperate antics begin to take over their lives. With every aspect of their schedules\, diets and sex lives revolving around conception\, relationship cracks seem inevitable. If they do successfully conceive\, what will this mean for Kash’s fledgling acting career? If they don’t\, how will Zoe get over losing what she feels is her true purpose in life? \nMeanwhile\, empty-nesters Charlie and Naomi are facing a different matrimonial challenge\, and it looks terminal. Charlie is bewildered that his wife does not share his excitement at finally having the house to themselves. Naomi can’t remember what attracted her to Charlie in the first place. Lacking any meaningful connection in her life\, she heads to the gym\, where she finds “connection” aplenty in the shape of Rocco\, a personal trainer 20 years her junior. \nRichard Molloy’s darkly funny drama explores the ups and downs\, hilarity and awkwardness that accompany the heart-wrenching journey of trying to conceive. \nContent warnings:  \nThe play contains themes of IVF\, abortion and divorce. \nSuitable for audiences above the age of 15.

SUMMARY:Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead
DESCRIPTION:Two minor characters from Shakespeare’s Hamlet suddenly find themselves at the centre of a story they do not understand and cannot seem to influence. \nRosencrantz and Guildenstern pass the time flipping coins\, trading riddles\, and trying to figure out just what is going on with the Prince of Denmark. As they stumble in and out of Shakespeare’s tragedy\, they encounter the mysterious Player King and his troupe of Tragedians\, actors who embrace blood\, death\, and rhetoric as all part of the show – which is to say\, life. \nWhat begins as a comic rumination on chance and circumstance deepens into a haunting exploration of what it means to exist when your part is already written. \nTom Stoppard’s 1966 breakout is a dazzling blend of existential comedy\, verbal acrobatics\, and theatrical playfulness that reframes Shakespeare’s play from the wings.
