SUMMARY:Forest Bathing : Self-Care In Nature's Health Service
DESCRIPTION:Immerse yourself in the healing power of nature and discover inner peace through mindfulness techniques in our Forest Bathing event\n\n\nForest Bathing – Mindfulness In Nature \nJoin us for a rejuvenating experience of Forest Bathing – Mindfulness In Nature at the Wonderful Wimbledon Common. Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and discover the healing power of the forest. I will lead you on a short walk which will include a few stopping points to enagage in exercises using our core senses plus some breathwork and a mindfulness meditation. Leave your worries behind and embrace the serenity of the trees\, as you engage in mindful activities and connect with the natural world. This in-person event is the perfect opportunity to recharge your mind\, body\, and soul. Don’t miss out on this unique experience! \nMeet 10.20am at at Windmill Tea Rooms\, Wimbledon Common\, SW19 5NQ. \nFAQs: \n  \nWhat is forest bathing?\nIt is a mindful and sensory experience in forest and woods and surrounding nature. It is an immersive experience that leaves participants calm\, relaxed and with an improved sense of wellbeing. \n  \nIs forest bathing new?\nForest Bathing ‘Shinrin Yoku’ was developed in the early 1980s in Japan and has been fully integrated into their holistic health programmes. Of course\, indigenous people around the world have used nature as a source of maintaining good health and recovering from poor health for thousands of years. \nIs there any proof that it can really help me?\nThere is a lot of research on the benefits of forest bathing from Japan and the UK has 11 universities currently researching\, monitoring and publishing the positive impacts of forest bathing to support government and healthcare initiatives such as green social prescribing. \nWhat can I expect to gain from a forest bathing session?\nEveryone will enjoy their own experience\, but most participants report feelings of awe\, of wonder at the beauty of the trees\, plus increased wellbeing from being bathed in the phytoncides (chemicals) released by the trees\, and a sense of community from being part of a group. \nCan anyone take part in a forest bathing session?\nForest bathing is accessible to anyone who can enter the woods safely. If you have any mobility or health issues\, please get in touch and we can discuss. \nIs forest bathing safe?\nYes\, but remember\, sessions take place in nature\, so participants have to be conscious of their surroundings and treat nature with respect. A full risk assessment is carried out before each session. Additionally\, the weather is continually monitored for high winds and lightning etc. \nIs forest bathing suitable for children?\nYes\, and it is a great activity for groups such as schools or clubs. However\, some sessions are for adults or older teens only\, so do check before you book. \nWhat do I have to bring with me?\nBring a mat to lie on and a bottle of water. That’s all you need. Be sure also to dress for the weather – rainwear for example\, or a hat in summer. \nDo I have to remove any clothing?\nNo\, unless you feel particularly warm and want to e.g. remove your jacket. Temperatures can vary so we advise participants to wear layers \nDoes it involve being in water?\nNo\, despite its name it does not involve immersing yourself in water. \nDo sessions go ahead if it rains or in high winds?\nIn most cases yes. We don’t enter the woods if there is a chance of lightning\, but rain in itself is not a huge problem\, as we are under the tree canopy\, which provides some shelter\, and rain gives us the chance to have an extra dimension to our time together in the woods. Extreme winds would result in a session being postponed. \n

You will gain practical tools to build confidence and enhance work performance. \nBy the end of this session\, you will be able to: \n\nUnderstand what Imposter Syndrome is\nRecognise its behavioural patterns\nIdentify common workplace triggers\nApply strategies to mitigate Imposter Syndrome’s impact\n\n \nThe event will have the following format: \n6.00-6.30 pm – Meet & Greet \n6.30-7.30 pm – Coach Session + Q&A \n7.30-9.00 pm – Drinks & Networking (we will provide pizza and drinks!) \n \nAbout the Coach \n \nRosemarie Wilson is a Leadership and Mindset Coach\, Trainer\, Speaker and Author. In her role\, she helps women in leadership who struggle to switch off tame their busy minds without compromising effectiveness. She guides and supports them in gaining true self-trust and reclaiming their energy and vibrancy. \nHer work also focuses on exploring the barriers to workplace and employee engagement\, supporting individuals and the organisations they belong to\, through one-to-one coaching\, workshops\, programmes and talks. Additionally\, she advocates strongly for women in tech. \nHer ethos is that while work and careers are important\, the mindset with which we approach both plays a huge part in our overall experience\, influencing whether we feel fulfilled and how we experience success. \nHer background stems from the corporate world where she spent over 20 years working in\, FinTech and Change Management in the Energy industry. \nRosemarie has performed stand-up comedy and prefers not to get through a day without something to laugh about\, she loves travelling\, cooking and good Red Wine. \nHer first book ‘Imposter Syndrome and Your Performance – What’s the Link? was published in January 2022. \nConnect with her on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rosemarieywilson/  \n \nAbout CosySafeSpace \n \nCosy Safe Space was created with a clear mission: to support remote workers. \nAs two experienced remote workers\, Chiara and Francesca have personally experienced the rewards and challenges of this lifestyle. We’ve learned firsthand the best practices to make remote work as healthy and balanced as possible. Now\, we want to help others overcome the same challenges and fully enjoy the benefits of working remotely. \n \nWe believe that a healthy work-from-home lifestyle is built on four key pillars: \n1. Taking care of your body \n2. Building healthy habits \n3. Creating a positive home environment \n4. Forming strong connections with others \n \nOur vision is to reshape how remote work is perceived. Instead of associating it with poor boundaries\, unhealthy habits\, and difficult working conditions\, we want people to see it as an opportunity to work in a cosy\, safe space where they can thrive and become the best version of themselves. \nThrough our blog\, (https://www.cosysafespace.co.uk/)\, we’ve realised that our tips can benefit not just remote workers\, but anyone looking to improve their work-life balance and overall well-being. \nThis is why\, we want to build a community of like-minded people because connection is one of our core pillars. We believe that true happiness comes from the relationships we build with others. This is why we are launching an event series designed to bring people together\, where they can share their dreams and challenges and help each other grow. \n \nThey Spark is an event series focused on empowering people. The series will revolve around three key themes: \n1. TheyBloom: Personal growth\, overcoming imposter syndrome\, and mindfulness practices. \n2. TheySpeak: Public speaking\, storytelling\, building self-confidence\, and communication\, including hybrid meetings. \n3. TheyLead: Leadership tips and how to be an effective manager in the hybrid work era. \n \nFollow the community on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cosysafespace/ \n…or get in touch at cosysafespace@gmail.com if you have any questions.

SUMMARY:Singing for the Brain
DESCRIPTION:Join Putney Library every Wednesday from 3-4pm for Singing for the Brain\, a specialized weekly program designed for people with dementia and their carers. This evidence-based activity uses music and singing to support cognitive function\, improve wellbeing\, and provide valuable social connection. \nSinging for the Brain sessions are carefully structured to maximize benefits for people living with dementia. Music engages multiple areas of the brain simultaneously\, helping to stimulate memory\, improve mood\, reduce anxiety\, and maintain communication skills. Even when other forms of expression become difficult\, many people with dementia retain the ability to sing and respond to music. \nLed by trained facilitators\, each session includes familiar songs from different eras\, gentle vocal exercises\, rhythm activities\, and social interaction time. The supportive group environment helps both those with dementia and their carers feel less isolated\, while the focus on preserved abilities rather than lost ones promotes dignity and confidence. \nCarers benefit too\, gaining respite through shared musical enjoyment\, connecting with others in similar situations\, learning techniques they can use at home\, and experiencing positive moments with their loved ones. The hour provides a break from care routines while remaining supportive and purposeful. \nNo musical experience or singing ability is required – participation can be as active or passive as feels comfortable. No registration needed\, simply drop in on Wednesday afternoons. \nFor more information about Singing for the Brain and other wellbeing programs at Putney Library\, contact 020 8780 3085 or email Putney.Library@GLL.org.
