DESCRIPTION:Join us as we discover the glorious polychromy  interior and the unusually large number of windows by Morris & Co.\n\n\nAll Saints’ church\, Putney\, was opened as a chapel of ease in 1874. The chief or sole benefactor of the chapel\, which cost £7\,800\, was the Earl Spencer\, lord of the manor. Its size and modesty befit its role as a chapel of ease\, although there is\, as in so many of Street’s buildings\, a sense of compressive strength in the stubby buttresses and Early English windows on the exterior. By comparison\, the interior is richly polychromatic and the many Morris & Co windows are of outstanding quality. The building is listed Grade II*. \nThis visit will be the last church visit as part of the G E Street Bicentenntial programme. \nThis event helps raise funds for The Victorian Society – the only charity dedicated to fighting for our Victorian and Edwardian heritage. Funds raised from events and memberships allow us to employ expert caseworkers to reply to thousands of planning applications a year in our role as a statutory consultee in the planning system. \nWe help tackle the climate emergency by campaigning for the sensitive reuse of historic buildings to generate much lower carbon emissions than demolition and rebuild. Created by world-renowned choreographer Jeanefer Jean-Charles (London 2012 Olympics)\, the event will feature various groups including Tavaziva Dance and London Children’s Ballet\, culminating in a mass dance finale led by Patience J ( accomplished dancer\, choreographer and TikTok star)\, where everyone can join in. \nThere will also be other workshops\, performances\, and interactive activities throughout the day.
