Part of Breaking Point, a nine-play drama festival staged by Putney Theatre Company and curated by Owen Thomas James, running 18 to 26 July.
The Girl in the Machine by Stef Smith. Directed by Lesley Strachan. A near-future two-hander about a device called the Black Box that promises total escape from stress and depression. When Owen brings one home, his sceptical wife Polly is gradually drawn in, and he watches her disappear into a world he cannot follow.
Contains scenes of self-harm. Suitable for ages 16 and over.
Tickets are £10, or £8 concessions including PTC and Group 64 members. A festival pass covering all nine plays is £60, or £48 concessions. Book via the theatre website.
