A car has ploughed through a garden wall into a block on a narrow, straight stretch of Clarence Lane, Roehampton.
It happened on Monday, and a woman was treated at the scene, the London Fire Brigade told Putney.news.
The car mounted the kerb, flattened the wall, hit the corner of the building and get stuck, suggesting it was travelling at some speed. Clarence Lane is a narrow, straight road with a wall running down one side that backs onto the University of Roehampton, making the crash even more unusual. Two days later, the grey car was still wedged against the brick front outside 203 Clarence Lane, its nose crumpled and an airbag deployed.
The photographs show the wall in rubble across the pavement and into the road, the estate’s sign post snapped off, what looks like a green residents’ parking sign under a front wheel, and red and white tape reading “Fire Do Not Cross” strung across the debris.

The Brigade was first called at 1.25pm and its crews had finished by 2.15pm, when it handed the scene to the Met Police and the council. The Met said police, ambulance and fire crews all attended and that no third-party injuries were reported.
Nobody has said what caused it, who was driving or how the driver is. We have asked the authorities for more. The Met’s press office said it does not give details of non-fatal road collisions.
The block is near the University of Roehampton, and Ibstock Place School stands at the end of Clarence Lane. Anyone worried about the wall or the debris can contact Wandsworth Council.
