Tree falls on jogger in shocking riverside accident

Runner rushed to hospital after terrifying collapse on busy Thames Path.

A woman out for a morning run was taken to hospital on Monday after a tree crashed down on her on the Thames Path.

It happened around 7.20am near the Barn Elms Boathouse—just across the river from Fulham’s Craven Cottage stadium. Emergency services were called to the scene, and a coach from the nearby rowing club is understood to have been among the first to help the injured runner.

“We were called today at 7.18am to reports of an incident near Barn Elms Boathouse,” said a London Ambulance Service spokesperson. “We treated a woman at the scene and took her to hospital.”

The extent of her injuries is not yet known, although she is thought to have been hit on her arm and shoulder.

This part of the Thames Path was closed while teams work to clear the fallen tree. By the afternoon, the tree was cut up and its pieces piled up in the bushes alongside.
