Sweet Treats and a Slice of History

It wouldn’t be Easter without hot cross buns, the sweet, spiced buns traditionally eaten on Good Friday. The cross on top represents the crucifixion, while the spices are said to symbolise the embalming of Jesus. The buns have been baked in England since at least the 14th century and were once so revered they were forbidden to be made outside of religious holidays.

For the best buns in Putney:

Harvey’s Bakehouse: Freshly baked every morning with sticky tops and a perfect balance of spice and fruit.

Gail’s also offers excellent versions—don’t wait too long, they sell fast!

Fulham vs Chelsea – Saturday 19 April, Craven Cottage

Easter weekend brings a Premier League West London derby to Craven Cottage as Fulham host Chelsea in what promises to be a fiercely contested match. Kick-off is at 3:00pm.

Tip: Arrive early to enjoy the pre-match buzz along the Thames and allow time for security checks.
