Wandsworth Council has just launched a new VE Day 80th Anniversary Grant Fund, offering up to £1,000 to local community and voluntary groups looking to host events over the Early May Bank Holiday weekend (3rd–5th May 2025).
Putney organisations are encouraged to apply quickly, with the application window now open and the deadline set for Sunday 21st April.
The one-off grant programme aims to support inclusive, creative events that bring communities together to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day. Activities could include street parties, afternoon teas, musical performances, or special events for care home residents or those who may not be able to attend typical public gatherings.
Grants of £500 to £1,000 are available, with a focus on ensuring as many residents as possible can take part in commemorations. Applications are open to formally constituted community organisations, including residents’ associations and volunteer groups.
Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 25th April, giving them just enough time to finalise preparations ahead of the big weekend.
How to apply: Visit Wandsworth Council’s website or speak to your local councillor for guidance.
Don’t miss the opportunity to secure funding and help Putney mark this major national milestone in true community spirit.
